Post date: 2 Feb 2024 (10 months ago)
Insolvency Associate/Senior Associate (4+ PQE) with a competitive salary, a great work life balance and excellent benefits, you’ll be based at our fantastic offices in the vibrant town centre of Altrincham.
Our firm
Myerson is a Top 200 UK Law Firm as recognised by The Lawyer. We are also proud to be ranked ‘Top Tier’ by The Legal 500, commended by The Times ‘Best Law Firms 2019 and 2023’ and named ‘Property Team of the Year’ at the Manchester Legal Awards 2021.
We are one of the largest independent law firms in the North West, a bold claim we are proud to make because it’s been hard won. No instant growth through acquisition or merger. Instead, growth earned from our day-to-day endeavours, an entrepreneurial approach to doing business and a rock-solid reputation.
We recruit staff who are motivated by our core values and have an affinity to our collegiate and independent ethos.
The team
Our Insolvency and Restructuring team is led by Partner Richard Wolff, who is well known in the Insolvency marketplace and has over 25 years’ experience in insolvency matters. Richard is supported by a core team of fee-earners working wholly, or mainly, in his practice area, together with the wider support of a number of other fee-earners from across the firm (including corporate, property, employment and litigation solicitors), adopting a collaborative approach to ensure a seamless integration of these relevant practice areas.
The team acts for insolvency practitioners (whether as administrators, liquidators, receivers, supervisors or trustees in bankruptcy), creditors, lenders, businesses & companies, directors and individuals (whether as owners of businesses or otherwise).
The role
The role, as well as acting for insolvency practitioners, corporates and creditors, will involve providing the highest quality advice to directors who may have claims brought against them as a result of their conduct in respect of insolvent companies (and defending such claims), and also providing advice on director disqualification.
The successful candidate will advise on a wide range of insolvency-related issues and processes including:
· Business turnaround
· Administrations
· Insolvent sales and acquisitions (including pre-pack sales)
· Compulsory liquidations
· Creditors’ voluntary liquidations
· Solvent Members voluntary liquidations
· Public interest winding-up petitions
· CVAs
· Company moratorium
· Director disqualification
· Bankruptcies
· IVAs
We are looking for an experienced Insolvency Associate/Senior Associate who is capable of taking on an existing caseload of insolvency matters and can play a key role in generating new business for the department and the firm. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the wider firm and be expected to contribute to the further growth and development of the department.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate will be someone with a good academic background and training, and experience in insolvency work, who is looking to further develop their career and maintain a good quality of work in a team-orientated, collaborative and supportive environment. Candidates are required to have excellent all-round insolvency experience - from both a contentious and non-contentious perspective.
The successful candidate will come from a national or leading regional firm and be used to dealing with a broad client base. We are looking for someone with at least 4 years’ PQE, so this role would suit someone who is working at an existing Associate or Senior Associate level.
Candidates must be able to respond to client's urgent requirements whilst embracing and supporting the ethos of a proper work/life balance. Candidates should have an ability and willingness to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other departments within the firm. The role will also provide scope for the successful candidate to be involved in practice development, not only for the insolvency department, but also for the other legal services offered by the firm. [Depending upon the level of experience of the candidate, details of any existing working relationships or connections with insolvency practitioner firms would be of interest].
