We are proud to be an Employee-Owned Business

In September 2024, Myerson Solicitors made history as the first law firm in Manchester to become a fully employee-owned business.

The firm is entirely owned by an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), designed to benefit all our employees. This model means that every team member has a stake in our firm's success, which not only empowers our people but also helps us attract top talent and reinforce our people-first culture.

Myerson is a member of the Employee Ownership Association (EOA).

What does being an employee-owned business mean to our employees?

Since joining Myerson in 2016, I've seen the firm grow, and our success truly lies in our people and our culture. Becoming an employee-owned business has further deepened our engagement and commitment. Now, everyone has a stake in our success, which means we all work towards common goals. Plus, we can directly reward our hard work with tax-free bonuses of up to £3,600 annually. This structure empowers us, boosts motivation, and creates a supportive community where we all benefit from our shared achievements.

The decision to become an employee-owned business means that Myerson will remain independent and maintain the great culture that so many people love about our firm.

Sarah Whitelegge, Senior Associate

I feel fortunate to work for a forward-thinking employer that truly places its people first. Becoming a 100% employee-owned business has only strengthened that commitment, offering us greater stability and continuity. It's exciting to know that we're all in this together, building our future as a team.

Chris Wilson, Head of Business Development

For me, working for an Employee-Owned company ensures that employee engagement is at the heart of business decisions, motivating employees to continue to work hard to help the business grow. Obviously, the tax-free bonus is a plus too!

Benefits to our clients

As an employee-owned business, Myerson offers unique benefits to our clients. Our team’s enhanced commitment to the firm’s success translates into even higher levels of service and attention. Since 1982, we’ve proudly maintained our independence, and we’ll continue to uphold that legacy. Being 100% employee-owned ensures our stability and continuity, fostering reliable, long-term relationships with our clients. By maintaining our independence and nurturing our distinctive culture, we continue to deliver the personalised, high-quality service that our clients value and trust.

What is an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT)?

Since their introduction in 2014 through the Finance Act 2014, Employee Ownership Trusts (EOTs) have seen remarkable growth in the UK. Created to encourage more companies to transition to employee ownership, EOTs provide a tax-efficient way for business owners to transfer ownership to their employees.

Trustees play a crucial role in this model, overseeing the trust and ensuring that it operates in the best interests of the employees. This approach has led to a significant increase in employee-owned businesses, with over 1,800 thriving across the UK, highlighting a significant shift towards more equitable and sustainable business practices.
