We're delighted to announce that our client, entitledto, has successfully transitioned to employee ownership via an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT).

Completed in October 2024, this transaction marks the fourth EOT conversion successfully handled by our corporate team in just the past quarter.

Established in 2000 by Steve Gibson, with Phil Agulnik joining as a partner in 2003, entitledto is the leading provider of online benefit calculators in the UK.

The company serves over 200 clients, including local authorities, housing associations, and major charities, offering authoritative tools that help individuals understand their legitimate benefit entitlements.

The company is now owned by its employees through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), with the new structure including Steve Gibson, Alistair Aird (Independent Trustee), and Karen Holmes (Employee Representative).

This change ensures continuity in management while promoting a culture of shared ownership among the team.

Dr. Phil Agulnik, Director of entitledto, explained:

"I’m immensely proud of entitledto’s role in helping millions of people to access benefits each year. Moving to an Employee Ownership Trust allows us to keep our brilliant team together while ensuring sustainable growth.

We are grateful to Partners Akeel Latif and Terry Moore, Solicitor Palma Percze, and the rest of the corporate team at Myerson for their support throughout this transition.

As we approach our 25th anniversary, we look forward to continuing our mission of helping people claim the benefits they’re entitled to for many years to come."

Steve Gibson, Director of entitledto added:

“When we came across the idea of moving to an Employee Ownership Trust it seemed like the ideal opportunity to meet the ethos of the company as I moved towards my retirement.

It allows the business to be shared with its employees as well as allowing them to have greater involvement in the company as it looks to the future.

I personally have peace of mind that the business is in good hands.”

Terry Moore, Partner in the Corporate Team at Myerson, commented:

“We were delighted to support entitledto in their transition to employee ownership and have every faith the business will continue to be successful under its new ownership.

Since we announced our own firm’s transition to Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in September, we have witnessed a notable surge in interest around the structure as a viable succession option for business owners looking to secure long-term, sustainable shared success while empowering their employees.

We expect to see more businesses exploring the wide benefits which the structure offers.”

In addition, Clive Bramley from White & Black, provided additional legal advice.
